e-Visa

Requirements to Obtain an India E-Visa (Limited Validity Short-Term Visa):
 
A valid passport and visa are required for travel to India. The government of India now offers two types of visas for travel to India: a traditional visa and an e-Visa, which is issued electronically. 
 
India e-Visas are valid for 120 days from date of issue, allow for stays of up to 60 days from first entry into India, and provide up to 2 entries into India. A maximum of two e-Visas can be issued within one year.

There are three types of e-Visas:

• e-Tourist visa

• e-Business visa

• e-Medical visa
         
The type of visa granted to you will depend upon your purpose selection.
Double Entry is permitted on e-Tourist and e-Business Visa.
Triple entry is permitted only on e-Medical Visa.
 
e-Visa is valid for entry through 25 designated Airports: Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Calicut, Chennai, Chandigarh, Cochin, Coimbatore, Delhi, Gaya, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Tiruchirapalli, Trivandrum, Varanasi & Vishakhapatnam and 5 designated seaports Cochin, Goa, Mangalore, Mumbai, Chennai.
 
Citizens of many countries are eligible for the Indian e-Visa. However, if the applicant, their spouse, parents or grandparents were born in (what is now) Pakistan or ever held Pakistani nationality they must apply for the traditional Indian visa as they are not eligible for the e-Visa.

Instructions for Obtaining an India e-Visa:
 
To obtain an India e-Visa you must scan and email (or send by mail) the following information: 

Completed India e-Visa questionnaire 

• For India e-Business Visas, click here to download and complete the e-Business Visa Questionnaire
• Clear color copy of bio page of passport (page with the picture)
• One Passport sized photograph. 
Photo must be 2 x 2 on a white background, and no glasses.
Emailed passport photographs should be sent in Jpeg format only.
• Color copy of Driver’s License
• Copy of Business Card (for e-Business visas only)
• Copy of letter from hospital in India on a business letterhead for (for e-Medical visas only)

India Tourist Visa

• Visa Required
• Submit your valid Passport, must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least two blank visa page
1 Fully Completed and Signed ONLINE Application Form must be sent.

• 2 Passport Photographs.

Applicant should not be wearing any type of eye glasses.

• For Non - US Citizens:
A copy of Green Card or Legal Status in United States Should also be Submitted
• Proof of Address: a Copy of Valid State ID or Drivers should be submitted. If the address does not match or is a PO Box, a copy of the Utility Bill (water, electricity, and gas) is also needed.
• Copy of Airline Tickets or copy of Travel Itinerary (Houston jurisdiction only)

For Minors under 18: Copy of the Birth Certificate, Copy of Both Parent's State ID, Copy of Both Parent's Passports is required.

Signature: The India visa application has two places for signature.
Page 1: each applicant must sign completely inside the box on page 1 below their picture. Minors should write their names in the signature box. Minors who cannot write their name, can use their thumbprint in black instead. If any part of the signature or thumbprint is outside the box the application will be REJECTED.
Page 2: at the bottom of page 2 the applicant must sign. If applicant is a minor, both parents or legal guardians must sign.

• Persons of Indian Origin applying for a visa for the first time on any US passport must submit their last held Indian passport and a completed Renunciation Form. Persons of Indian Origin who have held an Indian visa in a previous US passport must submit the expired/cancelled US passport, and a copy of the Renunciation Form. Please contact an Ambassador Passport and Visa agent at 310-828-7878 to regarding the correct Renunciation Form to be filled out.

India Business Visa

• Visa Required
• Submit your valid Passport, must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least two blank visa page

• A business letter of responsibility is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to: Indian Consulate General, Visa Section,

The letter must state all of the following:
The nature of the business performed
The name of the business reference to be visited Requesting visa validity required (6 months, 1, 5, or 10 years)
Guarantee sufficient financial support for the visit
Guarantee return transportation to the USA. The business letter should be written and signed someone other than the visa applicant

• A business letter of invitation from host company in India is required.
A Copy of Certificate of Incorporation from the inviting sponsor is required.

• Persons of Indian Origin applying for a visa for the first time on any US passport must submit their last held Indian passport and a completed Renunciation Form. Persons of Indian Origin who have held an Indian visa in a previous US passport must submit the expired/cancelled US passport, and a copy of the Renunciation Form. Consular fees are automatically calculated through the online application process and will vary by nationality, duration, and type of visa.

Consular fees are only payable by Postal Money Order (which Ambassador Passport and Visa can purchase on your behalf).
